Construction of Cross-Roller Ring Type RB

In the Cross-Roller Ring, cylindrical rollers are arrayed crosswise,
with each roller perpendicular to that adjacent,
in a 90° V-groove, separated from each other by a spacer retainer.
This design allows just one bearing to bear loads in all directions,
including radial, axial, and moment loads.

The inner and outer rings are made as compact in size as possible.
The ultra-thin type in particular is fully compact yet retains high rigidity,
making it suitable for application to industrial-robot joints and swiveling units,
                machining-center turntables,
manipulator rotors, precision rotary tables, medical equipment, measuring instruments,
and IC manufacturing equipment, to name just a few
                .

RA (outer-ring-separable type)

Type RA is a lightweight, compact Cross-Roller Ring slimmed by reducing
the thickness of both the inner and outer rings to the maximum allowable limit.
Though compact, type RA is capable of withstanding heavy loads.
With type RA, the housing and presser flange can also be made lightweight.
It is thus ideal for use in robot hands.
The outer ring can be separated from the unit and is permanently fastened
in place by riveting.

Thin type

RA-C (single split type)

The major dimensions of this type are the same as those of type RA. As the outer ring is split at one point, type RA-C is most suitable where rigidity and high accuracy are required of both the inner and outer rings. It is also ultra-thin and easy to install.

Standard type

RB (outer-ring-separable type)

The size of the inner and outer rings is minimized. In type RB, the outer ring is separable, whereas the inner ring is formed into one unit with the Cross-Roller Ring body. Thus, this type is best suited where high rotational accuracy is required of the inner ring.

Standard type

RE (inner-ring-separable type)

A new product embodying the design concept of type RB. In type RE, the inner ring is separable, but the outer ring is formed into one unit with the Cross-Roller Ring body. Thus, type RE is the best choice for locations where high rotational accuracy is required of the outer ring.

RB/RE (USP-class Series)

THK has succeeded in standardizing the Cross-Roller Ring of the ultra-super-precision (USP-class) series, which has a rotational accuracy far greater than that of the conventional standards for large-diameter bearings, as a result of the introduction of multi-spindle grinding machines dedicated to working large Cross-Roller Rings.
The inner and outer rings are as compact in size as possible, and are provided
with high rigidity. Thus, types RB and RE are ideal for machine-tool turntables
and the like.
